There are a few ways to connect with the New York City subway system at Howard Beach Station. Using the newly opened Airtrain is the quickest. There is also an Airport Shuttle Bus to Howard Beach Station. From Howard Beach Station connect to the "A" train headed toward Manhattan. At Hoyt-Schermerhorn station, transfer to the Queens bound "G" train until Nassau or Greenpoint Ave.

LaGuardia: Catching a Bus to Greenpoint

The Q48 bus connects with the 7 train at the Flushing-Main Street station. See the ground transportation map for LaGuardia Airport to determine bus stop locations at the airport. The bus costs $2 (make sure to have exact change in coin) or buy a $2 MTA Metrocard (at LGA news stands) so as to transfer freely onto the subway. At the Flushing-Main Street station, catch the express or local Manhattan bound 7 train. You want to transfer to the Brooklyn Bound "G" train at Court Square, and ride the "G" until Greenpoint or Nassau Avenues.

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)

Newark Airport is located in New Jersey, which makes it the furthest airport from Greenpoint. If you're scratching your head wondering why the Newark airport code is EWR, it's because U.S. airport codes that start with N are reserved for Navy facilities. Thus, a city like Newark must use an alternate code.

Newark: Catching a Bus to Greenpoint

The shuttle bus that runs from Newark Airport to Manhattan connects to the subway system at Grand Central Station. The shuttle is run by Olympia Airport Express, and runs approximately every half hour. See the ground transportation map for Newark Airport to determine bus stop locations at the airport. Make sure to get off at the Grand Central Station stop. The bus will offload 1 block south of the Grand Central. At Grand Central, you'll need to buy a Metrocard at one the machines, or at one of the booths downstairs. You want the Queens bound 7 train (see subway map). At Court Square station, transfer to the "G" to Greenpoint or Nassau Avenues.
