Newark Airport is located in New Jersey, which makes it the furthest airport from Greenpoint. If you're scratching
your head wondering why
the Newark airport code is EWR, it's because U.S. airport codes that start with N are reserved for
Navy facilities. Thus, a city like Newark must use an alternate code.
- There is a four passenger limit for all New York City cabs.
To get a cab at Newark, follow the "Taxis" signs. Use uniformed taxi dispatchers only, and ignore people who solicit you
for a cab within or infront of the terminal. See the
ground transportation map for Newark Airport to determine cab locations. If you cannot
locate a Taxi Pick Up Area, ask for directions at a ground transportation information counter, bus stop, or airline
counter.
- The shuttle bus that runs from Newark Airport to Manhattan connects
to the subway system at Grand Central Station. The shuttle is run by
Olympia Airport Express,
and runs approximately every half hour. See the
ground transportation map for Newark Airport to determine bus stop locations at the airport. Make sure to get off at the Grand Central Station
stop. The bus will offload 1 block south of the Grand Central. At Grand Central, you'll need to buy a Metrocard at one the machines,
or at one of the booths downstairs. You want the Queens bound 7 train
(see subway map).
At Court Square station, transfer to the "G" to Greenpoint or Nassau Avenues.
